    Default The bible.

What is "good" about the bible; a book which condones murder, rape, incest, theft, lying, corpophilia, forced prostitution, slavery, and any other number of wacko practices. Do you religious members just ignore these "good" parts or do you deny they exist?

The book as a whole is a guide. You get guidance from the bits you want guidance for. Christians just ignore the bad bits and if they are extremist Christians, they'll claim they're not in the bible and then throw aload of quotes which contradict with other quotes in the bible.

The bible is pretty much a good fictional book which you can also use as a guide in some areas of life.

    I agree.

And like Gomme said, the bible is merely a Guide.

it's supposed to tell you the bad & teach you the good.
it shows you the bad, & then teaches you the good.
    so, yeah.

You forgot homophobia. And I don't know because some things these days we do might be considered evil in the future like locking people in prisons if they commit a crime or hate towards paedophiles will probably be called paedophilephobia or something. The Bible is based during the time and what was right and wrong then.

    Exactly.

The Bible is a great guide to be honest, it teaches you right and wrong, without it the western world would be uncivilised like Africa.
