    Default Boris on leadership maneuvers

The key difference with what the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary has written and government policy (at the moment) is the transition period - the idea that we should continue EU payments for that year or so of transition.

Who knows what is up but something *is* up.

He's actually been misquoted on that by just about everyone - he hasn't said that the NHS will get an extra 350m, just that 350m a week of our money is currently spent on what the EU tells us to spend it on without that being necessarily the right thing for us. Wrote a big old post about it this morning after the BBC ran with yet another story on it

Except it isn't really £350m which is the big criticism.

Regardless, it is hard to ignore the campaign message of £350m for the NHS prior to the referendum when he mentions "taking back control" of £350m.

Not words from him, just speculation. Also what are "his" Brexit demands? Doesn't seem to be stated anywhere

I don't think there's a way of knowing really until the PM makes her speech in Florence on Thursday. From what I have read, it seems to be on the issue of payments - I was quite happy with government strategy on Brexit but if there is some plan to have us keep paying into the EU after we have left (pay for trade or EFTA) then quite frankly I am in the Boris camp too. Time will tell I guess.

If he does resign though I expect he has enough MPs on side to trigger a leadership contest pretty soon.
