Really? hmmDuring the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan & Afghani Civil War in the '80s. America couldn't go to war with the Soviet Union over it (god forbid, they wont pick a fight they might lose) so the CIA trained and funded the resistance fighters, most of which being the Taliban.

Bite the hand that feeds I guess. They ended up coming into power and harboring/supporting Al Qaeda who attacked America. When the U.S discovered they were linked, I guess it was convenient they supported them in secret. Communism was a bigger threat than Muslim Extremism. No matter, the Taliban fell within weeks.
I had a really interesting lecture about this at Aberystwyth Uni, I'll try and get the reading materials 'cause it pretty much summed it up really clearly.

BBC are often anti-semetic in their reports so I wouldn't be suprised if they'd managed to pursuade some of you that Israel has no right to attack.
