David Cameron has signalled that he intends to ban strong encryption — putting the British government on a collision course with some of the biggest tech companies in the world.

As reported by Politics.co.uk, the British Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to tackling strong encryption products in Parliament on Monday in response to a question.

Strong encryption refers to the act of scrambling information in such a way that it cannot be understood by anyone — even law enforcement with a valid warrant, or the software company itself — without the correct key or password.

It's currently used in some of the most popular tech products in the world, including the iPhone, WhatsApp, and Facebook. But amid heightened terrorism fears, David Cameron is attempting to take action.

I love how the politicians, the same politicians who import hundreds of thousands of migrants with extreme views (in particular the Religion of Peace) then have the nerve to turn around to the rest of us that we must lose our ancient civil liberties and freedoms in order to keep us safe from terrorism.

If you want to lower the chances of terrorism Mr Cameron, how about controlling borders and encouraging a strong pan-British identity as a starter?

lol. He mentioned attempting this a while back and it was just as laughable then as it is now. If he attempts this it will ruin our technology sector and all those finance companies in London will have to move somewhere else.

It's impossible to make secure encryption with a backdoor just for the government - anyone who's spent more than 10 minutes learning about information security knows that. Just about every new technology in the past 10 years is reliant on secure encryption - I'm not sure how you'd enforce a ban when most people aren't aware they're using it.
