This is a reminder to all users of Habbox and HabboxForum about the importance of account safety.

Please read the below account safety reminders, but the biggest thing to remember right now that if you use the same username and password across multiple fansites, accounts or even between Habbox and Habbo, CHANGE THEM RIGHT NOW.

As many of you know, there are sometimes exploits and leaks so it is safest to make sure all your accounts have different passwords.

If you are concerned about recent events then please message a member of General Management and we will help guide you in the steps to secure your account.

Your Password

  • Your password should NEVER be the same as any other login, including but not limited to your Habbo account, any other Habbox account and your email.
  • It helps to store your password somewhere in a safe (non-accessible) place, be it on your phone or written down - ensure that no one else can get access to this, however. We recommend using a password vault such as Lastpass.
  • Ensure your password is ~8 characters long and consists of a random string of both letters and numbers.
  • For an ultra secure password, you should use a website such as - http://www.lastpass.com/ - which will make sure your password is impossible to guess.
  • Do not use simple or easy to guess questions for your security questions on emails and other accounts.

Computer Safety

It is vital that you have a firewall on your PC, this prevents unwanted access to your computer from malicious sites. In addition, you should have a competent anti-virus installed on your computer. A scan should be completed at least once a week to ensure there is no malicious software on your computer that could end up affecting the forum!

A lot of computers come pre-installed with both a Firewall and Anti-Virus software. Ensure they are kept up to date, though - This does mean keeping your computers updated with the latest updates that have been provided by Microsoft or Apple via their updates depending on which computer you own.

General Safety

  • Only ever use your account on your own computer. Never use your account on a public computer!
  • If a scan shows suspicious software, delete it and change your forum password.
  • Scan all downloaded and received files before they are opened.
  • Never accept files from people you do not know.
  • Do not access suspicious sites.
