    Default Prince Philip turns 98

    Happy Birthday to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh!

    I *think* he's the 3rd oldest ever in the British/Commonwealth Royal Family, behind Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (101) and Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester (102).

    I heard on TV today that the queen was something like 13 and he was 18 when they got married. The dirty old sod. I know times were different then but, c'mon!

    Edit: Yeah I have just googled it..
    The Queen and Prince Philip have been together for over 70 years. Philip, whoturns 98 today, met the then Princess Elizabeth at the Royal Naval College when hewas 18 and she was 13.

    @Barkseh;

    By 'met' they mean introduced to. Remember, Prince Philip is a member of the Greek and Danish Royal Family's - back then, heirs were often introduced to on another on 'play dates' to get to know one another. Was all about power and rank. I recall that Queen-Empress Mary of Teck, wife of King-Emperor George V, was first introduced to and was engaged to Prince Albert-Victor who was first in line to the throne before his sudden death. She then became engaged to and married his brother (now first in line), the eventual King-Emperor George V.

    A photograph below of 1952 when we had three Queens living at once; Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother all pictured at the funeral of King George VI.
