Very very nice sounding. Got a optical input as well. No need for a sub as these deliver nice bass as it is

    Creative Inspire range.
Any of 'em, I say this whenever anyone asks for speaker recommendations, these have really great quality. I have the M-2600 2.1 system for my Mac and it sounds awesome.
i've been here for over 8 years and i don't know why

    Or the ones Hayd recommended.

These are going cheap at the moment as well. Very good for the price. http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/pro...SPEAKER-SYSTEM

If i were you i would either go with the ones i suggested or the logitech Z4's. had a small play with them hooked up to a mac pro and they sounded very good for the price. But if you wanna really have a nice sounding speakers and are willing to go close to your limit go for the Monitors.
