    Chav is a derogatory slang term in England which appeared in mainstream dictionaries in 2005[1][2] . The term “chav” refers to a subcultural stereotype fixated on fashions such as gold jewellery and designer clothing in the Burberry pattern (most famously a now-discontinued baseball cap) and from a variety of other casual and sportswear brands. Tracksuits, hoodies, jogging bottoms (known as sweatpants to some) and baseball caps are particularly associated with this stereotype. Musically, chavs tend to like rap, Garage, and R&B. Response to the term has ranged from amusement to criticism that it is a new manifestation of classism. The term has also been associated with delinquency, the "ASBO Generation", and "Yob culture

    I know a few "chavs" that are actually quite decent people. I think the whole "chav" phenomenon in the UK has gone a little over board. Unfortunately the people that dress the same, have similar characteristics, and listen to the same music gain the same label as those who are nothing but trouble.

    I'm not a "chav", far from it, in fact I'd rather not be labelled with anything. I've grown up, made decisions and this is who I've become. Nothings really influenced me in a major way except the desire to be a good person. I'm just me.

    I decided to create a poll to see how many of the teenagers that attend habboxforum.com are members of the chav society. Oh, and just to clarify on what chavs are;

    Thanks,
    Mate,
    that is hardly true.

    And I'm not a chav and judging by your list, no-one is.

    Did you get beaten by a chav and now you hate them? aww!

    I'm not a chav.
