AJAX was never just "made". It's been around for years just people haven't used it like it's being used now. No matter what you say I won't agree that it's a sub-language unless a professional tells me otherwise.AJAX was made as a Sub-Language

Look at the file extention by all means, but remember it can be changed via mod_rewrite (or Microsoft IIS equivilant). MySpace appears to use Cold Fusion.
AJAX is a type of JS, you dont use different functions for it, you use the javascript functions to make a nice effect, refered as to AJAX
