I only have a 5-piece Stagg which is in the attic/landing. Not really enough space to play it .

@further above: my Stagg cymbal has a chunk out of the edge (somehow lol) - it was like that when I bought the kit off my mate .

You should convert your garage into a sound proof practice room to play them in. Or the attic... that'd be epic

I got the cymbal used for about $25.
If they sound good to you, go ahead and get the staggs. As long as you hit them with correct technique, they shouldnt end up cracking.

The Fender 50's Precision bass was originally my dad's, but he gave to me so does that still count?

On amps I tend to stick to Marshall as a general idea.
