I dno if this is a silly recommendation, but when I had this problem I just pressed F11 on startup and it opened windows restore or something allowing me to choose a partial one or a full one back to factory settings.

Wow that seems like the long way round. If you've just fogot the pasword to the account, boot up in safe mode and use the administrator account to change the password. I know this works in XP, I'm not vista savvy but as far as I know that hasn't changed.

Vista doesn't have a master admin account as such.

    It does, it's just disabled.

if you have an acer laptop.. when its turned on try pressing alt + F10
then u will need to set up a password... when you have done that press it again and you will have a number of options.. restore to factory default will be one of them

    hope this helped
