Default Should I bleach my hair?

I have really dark hair, and i wanna dye it like a bright-ish purple colour like this

but because it's dark I can only get it a dark purple, so should I bleach it so I can get this colour or does bleaching it damage it too much?

Meh - you only live once, might as well try it?
But then again - There's this girl that tried almost the exact same thing as that at my school...
    Her hair is ****** now.

I'd recommend going to a hair specialist or colourist before you really try. And make sure you do the strand test to see how you and your hair react to the dye.

In the past, I've dyed part of my hair blond and then blue/red/green depending on when I did it and it was fine. But everyone's hair is different, and I had mine done at the hair dressers the first time so I half expected them to know what they were done enough not to commit homocide on my hair

Right i was always told my hair is too dark to bleach and has too many red tones.

obvs that cost like over £300

but ive done it with box dyes before, it does work so just do it and good luck

Its a risk to take, I have bleached my hair countless of time and gone red, blonde, pink etc and trust me after a while your hair is as dry as ghandi's flip flops! Personally i'd go to a specialist

Try it without bleach first and of your not happy with it then look towards bleaching.

That looks dark purple anyway, if you bleached first it'd probably be a lot lighter and more fluorescent than that, like a fuschia colour. Just get a purple from the Schwarzkopf XXL range and go for it, the worst that'll happen is it'll be darker than you like but better that than having frazzled bright pink hair.

    Lightbulb bleaching your hair

if you bleach your hair you dont wanna do it to many times you will want to seperate the months so if u do wanna rebleach your hair it dosent fall out in huge clumps like mine did i did what you wanted to do and it looked pretty :3 but it was hard to bleach my hair x.x my mom told me not to do it cause it ruins your hair and i didnt lisen to her so now i have really short hair cuz i want it to grow but the bleach did too much damage. sooo you might want to talk to someone that knows alot about hair dyes and i recently found out that there is hair dye just for dark hair so i use that now :3
