Assorted/Misc Removal

Quote from the Forum Updates Announcement:

The Assorted/Misc forum has been removed. This was first introduced back in September to stop post count from rising in threads that allow for short replies. After a few months it has become clear that this has had no benefit to the forum overall and so I have decided to get rid of it completely.

The old music and tv threads have been re-opened for posting, however all the other threads from the assorted forum can be re-created in the suitable forum.

I suspect there will be a feedback thread regarding this so you can leave your thoughts there.

Simply, why?

Also, in the same thread, it says the Christmas Forum has been removed but 'your posts are still there', does this mean that post count wasn't removed which goes against what I was told, or does it mean that the posts have just been hidden but not deleted

The assorted forum has no benefit to the forum whatsoever. It was just forgotten about and so it wasn't worth it being there. Christmas forum posts are still there and the post count hasn't been removed from them.

It wasn't forgotten about, people were still posting in there, but I'm pretty sure we can't check that now since it's been removed... I can see subforums on here that are less used than Assorted/Misc but are still around, so I don't understand why it's been removed. Of course it's just brought the previous problem back, and it might see an increase considering 100 posts gets you VIP now...

And I'm sure I was told that the Christmas posts would not change post count, let me find the quote...

I remember reading this too, wasn't it one of the super mods that said so?

It wasn't me that said that. Post count wasn't removed from the Christmas threads last year either.

Hardly. There were only a few threads being posted in.

Regardless of what anybody says about this change its going to stay as it is now.

There were only a few threads in the subforum.

If that's the reason for removal, why isn't the Nintendo subforum removed? We've had 2 threads since September in there.
