Sony PS4 teased for pre-E3 May reveal

Sony will make a PlayStation 4 announcement at E3 2013 in June, “or even earlier in May,” according to the company’s vice president of Home Entertainment, potential beating Microsoft to the punch in detailing its next-gen console. The Japanese firm has so-far been coy on its future gaming plans, but Hiroshi Sakamoto confirmed to Emol that the “big secret” news was building to a focus at the annual gaming event, or potentially jumping the gun with details the month before.

No PS3s except the original 60GB (Hardware Emulation) and 80GB (Software emulation) skus can play PS2 or PS1 games from disc, only from the playstation store.

it's always baffled me why playstation never hooked onto allowing earlier version games to play on the newer consoles. I can only seeing it as another way to draw people to the console.

Also interested to see what kind of technology is new-gen, though i'm sure the ps3 hasn't been able to use all the technologies stored in it.

They can all play PS1 games from disc .

Unless they use the cell again I don't see PS3 backwards compatibility being included, and I'm not sure how likely they would allow PS2 or PS1 backwards compatibility as they seem to be milking it on the store though I think it would be damaging if they didn't include one of the three.

Anyway I can't wait for the reveal, it's potentially going to have a pretty decent launch line up so it would be interesting to see if the rumours are true .

It would be interesting to see what they can add. It might be a remodel of the service, but that may just come under a PSN change than the actual console. It'll be interesting to see what is announced.
