Forever My Dad (Poem)

Written in memory of and with my Dad in mind on his 3rd year anniversary today - Miss you loads and wish you could be alive again so you could hug us, joke with us and live your life that was snatched away by Cancer. We won't let you forget you are the best Dad in the world and we certainly will never forget you xXxXxXxXx

Wherever the wind will take me across the open fields
Another life was still being written yet now has become indefinitely sealed
As your heart faded from your weakened body our hearts transformed into lead
The day that you left this world was when our lives became a shadow of dead

We picked ourselves up as you do while autopilot kicked in
The times you joked, laughed and out of tune you did surely sing!
The memories we think of are often a mixture of both a darkened mist and light
And the question we still often ask is why couldn't we have had you one more night

Saddened eyes and salty tears express silently how much you meant to us
Because we all know that you wouldn't have wanted much of a fuss
So now we wander around in life feeling like little lost souls
Not knowing anymore what to do, what to think or what are our main goals

Sometimes thinking about you simply hurts too much
But I'll always talk to you, my dad, we'll always keep in touch
Even if inside we are drowning in grief and slowly falling apart
Every day you'll be living forever deep within' each of our hearts
