A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer is prob among the most popular and well received books on child abuse, it details his own childhood under his abusive mother and although apparently there's a lot of speculation that he made parts of it up for the book it's a really engaging read that shows how cruel people can be and how well they can cover it up for so long

    Good luck in your A2.

The Time Travellers Wife - Has elements of abusive relationships in there as well as heavily emotionally tarring themes.

A Walk to Remember (Nicholas Sparks) - Such a cute story until the girl dies lol, literally the elements are all there, as well as any Nicholas Sparks novels, they're there for relationships.

I can't think anymore sorry, bit useless but oh well. Best of luck, if I think of anymore I'll let you know.

Us by David Nicholls springs to mind, it's about the breakdown o a marriage. Mentioned on the forum recently also is the yellow wallpaper which is extremely short and easy to digest but contains enough to be one of the most influential pieces of feminist literature in the last few centuries. Control is a huge theme there.

Honestly any book about an entirely happy relationship is going to be uninformed and poorly written. Even Romeo and Juliet which is riddled with tragedy.

When you say relationship, do you strictly mean romantic/sexual relationships between two unrelated individuals or do you mean literally any kind of relationship? All stories by franz Kafka (metamorphosis, the castle, the trial and more) have great father-son relationship dynamics that might be worth a read.

A Song for Issy Bradley by Carys Bray - unhappy relationships between members of a strict Mormon family after their youngest daughter dies (not a spoiler, it's on the blurb). I interpreted it to suggest that the husband was so busy loving and serving God that he forgot to love his wife and children properly, or perhaps he thought if he loved God enough then God would love his family for him...

Room by Emma Donoghue - told from the perspective of a little boy who lives in Room, which is something like a 9ft by 12ft space and has never left it because his mother was kidnapped by a man and has been forced to live there since (so he rapes her and she has Jack). The story starts when he's... 4? 5? And then you find out about the effects it all has on Jack and his Ma.
I didn't enjoy it at all but I know plenty of people who did and I'm fussy as hell so it is just me.
