Default MH370: wreckage found on Reunion 'matches Malaysia Airlines flight'

Fragments of a wing washed up in the French island of Reunion could be wreckage from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, says aviation expert

A French aviation expert believes he may have found the wreckage of MH370 – the Malaysia Airlines flight which disappeared off the coast of Malaysia in March 2014.
Xavier Tytelman, a former military pilot who now specialises in aviation security, was contacted on Wednesday morning by a man living on the island of Reunion, in the Indian Ocean. The man sent Mr Tytelman a series of photos showing wreckage of a plane, which the Frenchman said could possibly be the missing jet.

Has it actually been confirmed that it's from the Malaysian plane? I know everyone seems to be jumping to the conclusion that it belongs to MH370 (and the chances are pretty high) but there's been a number of plane crashes in the past that could also explain the debris. Interesting development though.

No it hasn't been confirmed. While it does look like it can be from the Boeing 777 as mentioned in this article here: http://www.wsj.com/articles/official...ean-1438194628

There is no 100% confirmation that it is from MH370 at this moment in time.

More plane wreckage found on island of Reunion, police say, after wing part possibly from MH370 found last week
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia...e=news_central

If it is all from MH370 then finally some progress is being made to find out why this happened in the first place. But a very long way to go though.

According to this article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ed-France.html suitcases, plane parts and even a plane seat have washed up on the island but they "didnt think anything of it" and burnt it. but yeah it says mh370 is the only 777 missing so it's likely the missing plane

Part of the aircraft wing found on Reunion island is from the missing MH370 plane, Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak has confirmed.

Mr Razak said international experts examining the debris in France had "conclusively confirmed" it was from the aircraft.

The Malaysia Airlines plane carrying 239 people veered off course from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014.

The debris was examined at an aeronautical test centre near Toulouse.

It was found on the remote Indian Ocean island of Reunion a week ago.

Mr Razak said the "the burden and uncertainty faced by the families" in the 515 days since the aircraft disappeared had been "unspeakable".

Had a strong feeling it would be to be honest when it was first reported - Confirmation at last. Long way to go but could help us in the right direction in finding more wreckage.

so basically it's confirming it crashed (whether intentionally or not) instead of landing on water in one piece, being flown away by aliens and other conspiracy theories?? is there a chance of getting the black box now and how long does it keep info?

It could have 'landed' on water but broken up on impact. Black boxes have chips and data is stored in the chip. If chip is still intact and not damaged, data can be recovered even after years.
