I think realistically we want to see fairness.. especially since that's what pride was intended to be proud of how far us (LGBT community) have come and when we allow all groups including military, police force, firefighters, paramedics, scholars, celebrities, major icons join in with celebrating the major separation of humans, we can learn to have more pride in the human race.

But sadly, with things going the way it has gone, we are humans and humans are imperfect, so we make mistakes whether malicious intent or not and caused the sour feelings between police force and homosexuals. I think it'll take time to heal those tensions, but as homosexuals, we should be taking the first steps because if we want to be accepted by society/the world, we must first be accepting.
