    There are now no people left living who were born in the 1800s. A last link to another century gone forever.

    Born in the Kingdom of Italy in 1899, the country itself had only existed for 38 years.

    She was age 15 when World War I started, age 40 when World War II started and age 90 when the Berlin wall came down.

    I think the hardest thing would be seeing all of your friends and presumably a good chunk of your relatives die before you, we often think of long life being a blessing but that's not always the case sadly

    That is amazing. I once watched a documentary about the longevity of the people and it was a place in Italy (don't remember the name right now), that came up first in terms of best diet. Its inhabitants were mainly old people and quite healthy for their age.
