I don't get Marley & Me as a sad film or at least not because an old dog dies, I mean during the film Jennifer Aniston has a massively traumatic miscarriage that's far sadder than an animal going to sleep but it just gets brushed off in 5 minutes

and the miscarriage is very sad too but the film isn't about that, if it were 120 minutes of developing the relationship between the two main characters and this unborn child then yes it would be super super sad but its not. its about these two and their dog which starts their family.

and people love dogs, and script writers are very good at building and developing your emotions right up to where they want you before evoking a response such as the one you get in marley and me

Meh guess I just connect more with human tragedy than an animal dying of old age, terrible of me to not get sad at the parts the writers wanted me to

I'd say Seven Pounds. I rewatched it a while ago and forgot how sad it was. I agree Marley and Me is sad but I've always grown up with dogs so I know how much it sucks when the time finally comes.
thanks lucpix for the cute sig xo

I'd have thought anyone growing up with dogs would be more emotionally connected to Marley and Me, same applies to plenty of other films and their topics.

I really hate perks? Both the book and film?

I mean they were FINE but I didn't think anything special at all....

    maybe I should rewatch/read
