Default What hyped books didn't you like?

Basically I'm asking are there any books that have got a lot of hype recently that you tried and didn't like/understand the hype??

I recently got sent Caraval to read and review and from all that I'd seen there was so much hype surrounding it and everyone who's read it really loved it. I however, can't get into it, I've tried like three times but really can't get into it. The storyline sounds like it would be alright but I just don't like the writing style I think! Have you read it and loved it?

(sorry if this has been posted before I couldn't find a thread)

Not recent but I'd say The Hunger Games, I couldn't get into the books at all and I've tried a few times. I do like the movies though. Same with Harry Potter, I've had and tried to read the books but just couldn't get into it but I don't like the movies either.

Not a recent one but it's definitely a contemporary young's one - Percy Jackson series! Maybe I think this way because when I did read it I was really young and my '"reading absorbing skills'" weren't that good at the time

And also there's a trend that is progressively increasing on the bookshelves of the bookstores [at least on the Brazilian ones]: Books written by non-writer vloggers, basically an autobiography! Even by children vloggers! I'll never read those, but they look so cheesy

I never read the Percy Jackson books as a kid but I recently bought them to start reading them. Hope I like them better than you did haha!

I totally agree with the youtuber books though. There's only a few I've read but only one of those was decent (Carrie hope fletchers) but I think that's probably because she's actually an actress/writer in her day job.
