What cultural norm shocked/weirded you out when you were travelling to a different place or country?
THis is not that dramatic or shocked, but in the US you're at a restaurant and the waiter stands there talking to you for 5 minutes. I like the customer service in the US but sometimes it was exhausting. I really just wanted to order my food and continue the conversation at the table but I felt like I had to make small talk with the waiter for 10 minutes.
Don't get me wrong, I know why they do that, tips, but learn to gauge the customer. Just let me order my meal and offer me some drinks...Nothing really more than that. If I wanted to do small talk, you would be sitting at the table with me.
