Good morning, wise ones

"Panela velha é que faz comida boa"

A sketch from a lyrics which, by accident, happened to be a proverb. If we translate it to English, we get

"Old saucepans are the ones which make the good food"

Definitely has an ambiguous meaning. It could mean:

  • As we do grow older, we inevitably do learn a lot of things, through suffering or third-party experiences - therefore, we turn into better people
  • Older people are sexier
  • Old things, for one reason or another, are more efficient or cooler than the ones made nowadays
  • Old saucepans do LITERALLY prepare yummier meals

Has your country an interesting proverb, some "words of wisdom" scattered among people? Some statement that is viciously overspoken by everyone, as an advice or whatever?
