There will also be direct elections for the Mayoralties of Hackney, Lewisham, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Watford.

With the exception of those areas that have had boundary changes, the seats up for election were last contested in the 2014 local elections.
The latest national poll out just this afternoon is...

    Conservatives 41%
    Labour 40%
    Liberal Democrats 10%
    Ukip 2%
    Greens 2%

For rough comparison, the results of these seats in 2014 were...

    Labour 31%
    Conservatives 29%
    Ukip 17%
    Liberal Democrats 13%

My local seat is up for election so I will be voting, will be voting Tory.

Feel free to vote in the poll who you would vote for even if your council isn't up for re-election this year.

    Another poll today...

Even with the Home Office balls up the Tory-Ukip wall holds fast.

To be fair, my polling card went to my ex's house so I didn't vote. I'm not sure I would have either, to be honest. They're all as bad as each other - and I'm not sure what impact they actually have on my local area. I've seen no change previous.

Didn't bother. Don't really care who pays the lazy shits to redo the cracked roads with cheap tar, it's still gonna break apart again the next time it's either hot or cold outside

In summary a good night for the Tories nationally, good for the Liberal Democrats in key London targets and some wins elsewhere, bad for Labour and a total collapse for Ukip. A selection of some tweets I thought were good/interesting...

labour need to sort themselves out. corbyn needs to ditch certain elements of his party as they clearly don't bode well with parts of the mainstream centre-lefts.

Mr Corbyn intends to ditch certain elements of his party, he intends to ditch the mainstream centre-lefts.

Although his faction are crackers, it is fun watching the end of the Blairites.

where I live you literally may as well not bother if it’s not a Tory vote there’s no chance but FEELS GOOD to have a day anyway

Interesting to see LD take over another council, will be following closely to see if they can make a full comeback. Getting fed up of the 2 party system we have both sides have ISSUES and it seems like there’s no real good choice
