    Default Trouble Sleeping?

In the past I have noticed a few posts complaing about not being able to get asleep... So I have collected some helpful ways to help you get asleep, and I have added some of my own that personaly help me

    • Listen to relaxing music, or even sounds of nature such as rain falling, the sea
    • Dont have a bed time snack or what ever you might call it, because it will make your blood sugar higher and obviously it isnt going to help you sleep is it...
    • Sleep in complete darkness... Or as close as possible to it
    • Dont watch TV right before bed, because It will stimulate the brain... I'd say stop watching TV maybe 20 mins before you go asleep
    • Keep your bedroom or what ever room you sleep in, below 21C... That is 70F
    • Obviously... Avoid caffine
    • An intresting one - Remove your clock from view... It will only make you worry as you see it get later and your worring about not going to be able to wake up as it goes 1AM 2AM 3AM etc
    • Put any work away 2 or more hours before bed, so you can go asleep feeling calm
    • 3mg of melatonin... And no you are not pumping your body full of nasty chemicals! Its naturally produced in the pineal gland... But your just upping the dose I suppose, or maybe your not producing it when you need it
    • Dont nap in the day... For the obvious reason you are resting then
    • Be active in the day, dont lounge around in front of the pc...
    • A really useful one that helped me when I was having trouble sleeping, exhaust yourself... Jog on the spot for about 5 mins and sprint on the spot not stopping for about 2 mins... Then just crawl into bed and you will eventually fall asleep

Hope this helps people having trouble sleeping

    • I like watching TV before i go to bed actually .. it actually makes me forget about things like that it is late. Or maybe that is just me?

And i don't really think that it is a smart thing about running on the spot etc. since most people live together with others.. And if you have trouble sleeping, that might mean that you will do this late at night.. So the other person[s] might complain?

But of course, that was only my oppinions

Of course people should feel free to try all of the advice you gave .. as long as they feel comfortable about it

Well.. anyways .. +rep for taking the time to try to help people?

Thanks for the tips. But I guess teens can't use the melatonin.

Some people dont like the Idea of sleeping pills, as some people can become reliant on them...

I have trouble getting to sleep, but once I'm asleep you'll have trouble getting me awake again. Which scares me cos I don't wanna sleep through the fire alarm goin off I find it hard to get to sleep because I get so hot. Even if I have my bedroom window open all day I get hot at night. I even have a massive fan at full blast right next to my face but I still get hot! And no I don't have a mystery woman in bed with me! Nor am I thinking about one! Or pretending to have one!

Nice tips. I often get irritated when I can't sleep and keep looking at the clock. +rep
