Default The Wii Game Recommendation Thread

There are tons of threads out there dedicated to 'what game should I buy' so I thought it might be easier if we just keep it to one thread. Please note that this list will not be updated since HxF has a stupid edit rule. Check out the latest replies to see the best games to get!

Feel free to add your own recommendations!
Great Local (with a friend in the same room) Multiplayer Games
    Mario Party 8

So it may not be as fresh as it should - but it's still fun! Mario Party 8 brings four player competitive minigames alive in this board game style game. You can play against everyone or on teams, and play special minigames with Miis.

    Super Smash Brothers Brawl

The obvious choice, and probably the best multiplayer game available for the system. Play with up to four players, with a tournmaent mode for many more players. The great thing about this game is that, not only is there competitive, but there is a lot of co-op goodness, as well! The game also features a robust single player mode.

    Rayman Raving Rabbids

Raving Rabbids brings fun Rayman fun in a way the series isn't used to - minigames. The critically praised minigame was a launch title for the Wii, and showed off some pretty cool stuff.

    Online Multiplayer Games
    Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Clearly, the top choice for this category. This title allows you to go online with a friend, or by yourself and play anyone in the world. The game is incredibly strong in multiplayer, with several modes and lots of balance and craziness.

    Medal of Honor: Heroes 2

The best (and only) online multiplayer game for the Wii. The game features the best use of the wiimote for a first person game that the Wii has seen yet!

    Mario Strikers Charged

The great multiplayer Gamecube title is back on Wii, this time with online play. Play against your friends, or random people across the globe. Strikers Charged is a crazy football (or soccer) game featuring Mario characters.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Winning Eleven 2008)

Looking for a serious online football game for your Wii? Look no further! PES 2008 offers a soccer experience found on no other console! The controls have been remastered with the use of the wiimote and offers one of the best (as far as lag goes) online experiences for any console.

    Adventure Games
    Metroid Prime 3

Metroid Prime 3 continues the Metroid Prime franchise in this brand new game. Use your wiimote to simply aim and shoot. Follow Samus on her quest for Dark Samus, but don't let the dark phazon completely corrupt you!

    Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Link makes his first appearance on the Wii with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This game offers a lot of new things, such as the ability to turn into wolf form, as well as a new character - Midna.

    Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

Resident Evil 4 continues the creepy, zombie-centered franchise. This port of the Gamecube version includes brand new motion controls and quick aiming. It also includes the added PS2 content (Separate Ways). The game was strongly accepted by critics because of the controls.

Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure

Zack & Wiki is certainly a unique game for the Wii. It is a throw back to old Adventure games, that used to be pretty popular. You take control of Zack, witht he help of Wiki. Use your wiimote to make motions to solve puzzles.
    Mature Games
    Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

Resident Evil 4 continues the creepy, zombie-centered franchise. This port of the Gamecube version includes brand new motion controls and quick aiming. It also includes the added PS2 content (Separate Ways). The game was strongly accepted by critics because of the controls.

    No More Heroes

Have you ever played Killer7? Probably not. Well the developer of that game has developed a brand new game for the Wii. Use your wiimote as a "beam katana" and control Travis, a foul-mouthed gamer, as he tries to make his way to being the top assassin!

    The Godfather: Blackhand Edition

Gamers can join the Corleone family to exploit loyalties and fear as they rise through the ranks to become Don in 20th century New York City. Carry out orders, earn respect, and make the Big Apple all your own. Wiimote motions help gamers become immersed into the game.

    Platformers
    Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy brings the series to heights (literally?) it hasn't reached since the 64 version. Mario Galaxy brings platforming goodness when Mario goes to space and playing in a large number of environments.

    Super Paper Mario

The spin-off series is back and for the Wii. The game features Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Peach as playable characters. The big difference in this game is that you can now turn platforms into a 3D mode to get past certain points!

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

Great fun with friends you can play loads of olympic events such as track events, high jump, swimming and table tennis. There are dream events which are dream race, dream table tennis, dream fencing and this weird diving thing. It's quite cool. Just gets a bit tiring!

Oh yeah heres another good one:

    WarioWare: Smooth Moves

Very fun game with loads of weird random challenges such as picking noses and inserting false teeth! It gets even funnier when it tells you to hold the remote in a certain position e.g the mohawk - hold the remote on your head.

    Can't believe I forgot that.
    A great game is also

A completely new game from Retro Evolved, the Xbox Live counterpart. This expands from that idea, and includes tons of levels, online rankings, and co-op and multiplayer modes. It's been said that it makes the original look like a demo.

    Sonic and the secret rings

Sonic the hedgehog comes to the wii in Sonic and the secret rings. Possibly one of the best Sonic 3d games of all time, it'll have you playing to it's spectacular end.

Any football fan NEEDS to go and buy PES Wii. What a brilliant game, it controls a lot like a real football game. Great for incisive passing and general movement. I totally recommend it.

Zack and Wiki, too, is a must-buy.
    Seriously.
