Default Why is the filter made for 11 year olds?

Keeping in mind that 11 year olds get pregnant and start smoking now, why does HabboxForum have filters which even a 10 year old would think is a tiny bit crazy. I mean if you did a poll (which mgmt blates wouldnt, it may prove someone right) to see how many kids there are under the age of 13, I bet it'd be about 5 people, compared to the ton of regular users on the forum who have to put up with a filter which tells you off for swearing more than teachers did at secondary school.

Soooooooooooooooooooo yeah, why the strict filter lol, cant we have a option to turn off the filter like Habbo does?

We all know where this thread is going to go.

We do not allow swearing on Habbox Forum because it is generally quite unpleasent.

It's all fair saying "Habbo allow it" but on habbo the word is on the screen for about 30 seconds, on Habbox Forum it is there for as long as the forum shall exist.

There's no need to swear but if you really want to, swear - there's nothing actually stopping you from swearing, the filter just stops it from showing up.

If I wanted to see loads of frustrated teenagers swearing on the internet, i'd open up firefox and type in www.facebook.com and read a few statuses.

Habbox Forum has been fine for six years without swearing, the filter has been loosened over time and it's fine. Hell, back in 2006/2007 the word "ass" was filtered.

The simple answer to your question is that if we did remove the filter, immaturity would take hold. Even though we do have a lot of older members it is inevitable that the removal of the filter would result in people swearing constantly and using swearing as an insult on a regular basis. No doubt about it. Swearing lowers the tone of discussion and creates a negative atmosphere. There is no need to swear, and I feel the filter has more positives than negatives.

There will be no option to 'turn off' the filter, for the reasons outlined above as well as how it will create numerous moderation issues. Quite simply, it's not going to happen, as much as people will complain and moan - overall, it's best for the forum and thus it will remain that way.

Since the word ass was unfiltered, what else has been unfiltered (and not refiltered? I don't expect you to know, but I'll guess about 3-4 things... Its like 1 or 2 words every year. I wasn't expecting a general unfiltering of everything because that would be silly and let the floodgates open for a load of immaturity. I wasn't even suggesting that, sorry to be so general on that.

@Garion same response goes to you ^

    Why am I uncautioned lol.

We last cleaned out the filter the first week Garion and I became Forum Management and around 5 words were unfiltered and have not been refiltered

In reference to your caution, think it was a donator issue, did you just buy it?

Good show for remembering, I stand corrected. Do still think abbreviations should be unfiltered... *whistles* Dont think anything else should be though, abbreviations are petty compared to everything else lol.

My ban was due to run out today but I thought it'd be 6PM tonight... so you just extended my ban till Saturday instead.

Oh **** sorry I thought it was Tuesday! - Sorted!

We know abbreviations are a touchy subject and I doubt we're gonna go into discussion about them when one has been had so recently.

LOL tis fine, dw. I don't get whats so touchy about abbreviations though, I mean most young kids are either gonna know what it means or they aint, no harm done by Habbox either way. They're just shortened ways of saying different things, like text speak.

It is my personal opinion that some abbreviations are fine, those that were unfiltered.

However an opinion in the interest of the forum would differ as, as we found out if we unfilter 4, the argument arises that we should unfilter more and even my personal opinion is against that.

Mmm. I can see from a moderation point of view that yeah, it's confusing what abbreviations are ok and what arent, but thats why you should properly filter the abbreviations instead of having them all allowed? I mean I only used the abbreviations that were unfiltered and that'd be kk with me. I really have no idea why they were refiltered, apart from some immaturity from a certain forum member (or so I heard), no names mentioned ofc. Is cba'd unfiltered?
